NICU - Resources

Cuddler Program - The NICU Cuddler Program provides volunteers to add to the services provided by the NICU staff. Our Cuddler volunteers hold, nurture and cuddle newborns when the child’s parents are not available. Cuddler volunteers are screened and we ensure that they have the qualities that we are looking: warmth and compassion.

Parent Education - Parent instruction and education can begin as soon as your baby is born. When the infant’s condition allows, parents can hold, feed, bathe, diaper and provide other care to their infant. NICU staff members instruct parents on newborn care and answer any questions or concerns.

The NICU staff offers instruction to parents about caring for their baby at home.

These instructions include:

  • Breastfeeding and breast-pumping usage
  • How to take the baby's temperature
  • Proper positioning of the baby (SIDS Prevention).
  • Formula preparation
  • Car-seat safety laws
  • Anything Infant CPR – American Heart Association
  • Immunization requirements
  • How to recognize signs of infection
  • When to call the physician
